Google has updated the
PR or page rank toolbar over the last week or so. A few webmsters went into a spin but things seem to have settled down now - a lot of sites are reporting a drop in page rank. We have seen a big boost on many of our internal pages from 0 to PR5 - this is great to see! Our index page still runs at PR4 but as in the last
PR update the internal pages seemed to get updated first - then the index page. At a guess this may be the way it plays out this time!
Page rank explained - In simple terms Google page rank is an indication of how Google sees your page - the more quality links that point to your website will have a positve influence your page rank. If you have links from pages with a high "
PR" directed to your site your site will aquire higher page rank as a result. Page rank is one of many important factors that will determine how your pages will rank in the search results. If you have the Google toolbar installed then you can see what your sites "
PR" is simply by browsing the pages and looking at the green page rank bar - Simply put if you want to get better rankings in Google you need to increase the number of
"quality" links that point to your website.
