Yes I know that google has many divisions but how did it make so much money just from the search engine. where did the money come from.

also, why do they need so many server farms for making searches faster.
But, my brother used to own a companuy and they advertised on that side bar, I do not think he was paying through the nose though.

Big companies, like Ebay, pay massive amounts of money to get advertizements on the side, or even to have links to their sites at the top. I know it's hard to believe that they can make enough money from that, but they probably have to pay every month. Google also owns YouTube, which earns money the same way.

Companies pay good money to have their websites show up first! That is how google makes its money.
