Default Social Bookmarking To Drive Traffic

Social bookmarking is a great way to develop links and traffic to your content pages, there are a few great sites such as digg, delicious and reddit that you should get involved with straight away - Others to consider would be netscape, google, furl and stumbleupon. These sites carry a high PR and will get new pages crawled and into the index quicker than almost any other method. Keep in mind this is just 1 part of an overall strategy for marketing your site, over time I would expect the search engines start to devalue these links to some extent as they start to become exploited. What the social bookmarking sites do offer is a way to get your content picked up and linked into by other sites, they offer a very real bonus over and above mainstream SE traffic and webmasters should make the effort to learn how best to tap into them.

This is good advice, we have had very good success with the social bookmarking side of marketing so far - the traffic from these sites can be quite high but less than targeted in terms of real estate in geographical terms. The links and content distribution benefits seem to have had some benefits in terms of our search engine rankings. Digg has not been the best for real estate, reddit seems to be a better option for traffic.
