Default Choose your House Plan Style

Texas House Plans

Texas house plans are fit for a large family as it goes up from two stories to even four stories. The design is elegant with lots of bay windows, covered deck and bayed porch area.
Circular staircases are not uncommon in these types of home and they make for a grand entrance further into the home. The style of home is usually built as a traditional house plan and brick is the core material used for building. Gable roofing with the use of shingles is also very popular on a Texas house plan.

Gothic House Plans

Gothic house plans fall into the Victorian style category. The design is usually irregular and the floor plans are even more unpredictable. The trademark of a Gothic house plan is its arched and pointed windows, chimneys and pitched gable roofs.
Gothic house plans sometimes include a verandah and can often be mistaken for a church because of the way it looks.

Period House Plans

Period House plans is very historic in nature. These blueprints are modestly designed yet has a strong presence wherever it is located. Known for its dramatic porches, it is also big on pointed gables and wide windows. Period houses, like those of colonial and vernacular are two stories or more upwards. On the upper level, one can always find a beaconing balcony replete with a glass door entrance. This makes star gazing at night all the more interesting.


Italian house plans


The design for an Italian house plan is has very intricate detailing and marries the old with the new. Here the floor layouts are very 21st century but the traditional Italian design is still very much present. Italian houses are known for its facades and marble and stone materials used in abundance. If anything, one can truly say that an Italian house is structured like a home for the elites. Indeed there are French doors which welcome the cool air throughout the house and who can forget their flower balconies. The detailing on windows and doors are also well detailed. Italian houses usually go up to four levels.

Farm House Plans
Farmhouse plans are greatly appreciated by farmers in the Midwest and Northeast regions of the country. These practical houses take on a simple style of design. Usually build in a square symmetrical shame, they also include unique side wings. Farmhouses huge and deep wraparound porches and some may have brackets.
Inside the kitchen and the living room areas are usually built very large as well. Farmhouses are indeed an excellent choice for rustic living.

Old House Plans
Old house plans are being remodeled to include all the modern enhancements without changing the original plan too much.
The two most popular old houses, which are being blended in with contemporary style, include Victorian styled homes and farmhouses. They are usually one-story homes with low, overhanging gables. These homes are not without beams and wide columns in the porch area.


Energy Efficient House Plans

Energy efficient house plans are geared to save the homeowner a bundle on their energy bill.
The position the windows in the living room should always face north so that the summer and winter seasons would not affect the homeowner. Ventilation also plans a huge part in this type of design.

Widow’s Walk House Plans

A widow’s walk house plan is more suitable for coastal residence. It is a platform that is attached to the roof of the house with a view. The platform has railings around it and can be accessed by using a staircase from within the home.

Passive Solar House plans

Passive solar house plans are indeed energy savers. That means that these homes take little energy to both heat or cool during the summer and winter months. These homes are tastefully design with patios and porches and vaulted living areas. Natural lighting is also customary with these homes. Each blueprint of a passive solar house would be given with instructions on the best angle to build your home so that you can make the most of the sun and natural lighting elements.

Boat House Plans

Ideal for use as a vacation home or a family home depending if your location is close to the sea, boathouse plans may be just the design that you need. They provide comfort and although small, they are designed to give the impression of a larger space. Boathouses are known for lots of windows, which left the natural light pour in. Some of these plans utilize sun decks and terraces for outdoor dining and relaxation.


Frank Lloyd Wright House Plans

Frank Lloyd Wright was an architectural pioneer and his out of the box designs can be seen on Prairie houses, which he developed. With his designs, rooms are never seen as a single-function space, but rather as one, which overlaps, into other spaces in the house. A Wright house plan utilizes defined spaces, high ceilings and the use of brick and wood in designing a home.

English House Plans

An English house plan gets its shine from having multiple roofs and a veranda that is conducive to relaxation. Using employing a Tudor style, these types of homes have vaulted ceilings with the design accent on spacious spaces.

Estate house plans

Estate home plans are grand living at its best. These mansion-type colonial homes must be built on a wide expanse of land to accommodate a sweeping veranda.
Estate homes are similar to plantation house plans and usually have two levels.

Vacation House Plans

Vacation house plans are design for houses constructed close to the sea, lake, river or ocean. A large deck with a view is one of the signature designs in these types of homes. Wrap around porches is also added to this house design.

Utah House Plans


Utah house plans are great family homes. Sometimes built on two levels, ranch is one of the widely used design styles. Some homes are built with skylights and vaulted ceilings. These always include a wraparound porch that adds more charm to the house.


Brick House Plans


More and more, brick is the material widely used in home construction. Not only is it durable but also versatile and can be used in courtyards to building the foundation of a home. Brick styled homes are usually complimented by steep rooflines and open living spaces. European house plans use a lot of brick for construction.


Economical House plans

How much one can afford to build a home for the convenience of their family is what an economical house plan offers. These are customized plans to fit a certain homeowner’s lifestyle, personal taste and of course budget.
House plans such as these are usually available as twin homes, ranch style homes and two story townhouses to name a few.

Steel House Plans

Steel houses are known for its durability and are excellent in providing house framing. It is termite proof and can adapt to any design. More than that it would never crack or peel and is recyclable. Steel frame houses are usually paired with stucco, brick and siding to complete the design.

Stilt House Plans

Stilt house plans tastefully blends traditional with contemporary stilt layouts and is considered simple and straightforward plans.
These houses are attractive and are usually the style with cottage houses. It is ideal for coastal living.

Tropical House Plans

Tropical house plans are designed for ocean-side living. Verandas overlooking the beach, big and open air-filled spaces and lanais are what these houses are made of.


Pedestal House Plans

Pedestal design house plans are elevated from the ground in a pole and beam style. This unique home allows the builder to construct on land where an ordinary house would not survive. Steep slopes, flood plains and even marshes are the ideal spots to construct a pedestal house because it is elevated from everything.


Global House plans

Non-American styles like Spanish ranch or the Mediterranean influenced home or even a cabin available in a Canadian style are all considered global house plans. These plans can capture each detailing of these countries whether it is arched hallways, stone courtyards or a flowered balcony.



Italianate house plans


Italianate house plans are also known as the Tuscan. This style of housing came from England back in the 1800s. Back in England it was known as the regal and classical style but was soon adapted to American lifestyle when it came here. These houses are known for its height of 2 to 4 stories, low pitched and sometimes flat roof, narrow windows and heavy double doors at the entrance. The design’s symmetrical shape still makes this Victorian home a favorite today.

West Coast House Plans

Spanish and Mediterranean styles are the key influences in West Coast homes. They embrace the stucco exterior, courtyards and verandas and tiled roofs.


Villa House Plans

Villas today marries European and Italian designs perfectly. And the result is a charming house plan that is well detailed.
Here in these house plans lie stucco and columns at the exterior, vaulted ceilings and rich and thick double doors that provide the entrance and exit to the balcony area. Decks are sometimes added at the rear. Amenities such as pool, whirlpool bath and a study can also find its way within these house plans.

Stucco house plans

Stucco material is widely used in constructing houses. Low cost and low maintenance, it’s a wall covering that has the tendency to further enhance any home. Mediterranean and Spanish styled homes use a lot of stucco within its design.
