Default Question about Iraq war.?

Bush says we are there until the job is done(never mind he claimed victory way back when....) and everyone is saying its the "terrorist" and whatnot that are doing all the killing in Iraq....and that Shia's and Sunni's are the ones causing all the mayhem...ok I'll accept that...so why are we so concerned with what the Shia's and Sunnis are doing to each other? I say all the troops pack up and go home and let those factions duke it out until someone emerges the winner....just like so many other countries are doing all over the globe in which the USA doesnt get involved in....right? why are we so damn concerned with what Iraqi's are doing to each other...we never cared all that much when Saddam was killing his fellow Iraqi's in numbers or when he had the Kurdish wiped out with chemicals...matter of fact we considered him an ally in those days...arent we the ones that gave him those chemicals in the first place(yes).

How many more have to die for Bush's ego trip?

The United States toppled the vicious dictator, Saddam Hussein, expecting the Iraqi people to be able to put their own affairs in order. This was a serious miscalculation. The reason Saddam was both able and needed to rule with an iron hand is that, without a strongman in power, the religious factions within the country would be free to behave like packs of wild dogs.

Therefore, there are only three possible solutions: 1) Install another dictator (and catch hell for every attrocity he commits thereafter). 2) Simply pull out, only to return 5 years later to fight the much wider regional war that would surely result. 3) Effect a political solution which involves proving separate autonomous regions within Iraq which govern themselves according to their own religious laws and customs; have a federal government which secures Iraq's borders, settles disputes between the automonous regions or states, and ensures oil revenues are shared equally amongst the Shia, Sunni, and Kurds.

This plan is known as the Biden-Gelb plan. The identitical plan was employed in Bosnia without a single American soldier losing his or her life. Senator Biden, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations, and a U.S. Senator for 34 years, is running for President. Mr Gelb is the head of the Counsel on Foreign Relations, a private reseach group.

The plan would include a phased withdrawal of U.S. Forces as the causes of the Iraqi civil war were removed and the country and wider region stabilized.
