I believe my parents are being unreasonable. How do I argue back?
I'm never one burst out of the room screaming, "This is so unfair!" but I do think this is unfair.
My parents won't let me go to the beach with some friends [all girls, too. And my older brother, who is 16, too!] because there is no adult going with us. Despite the promising outlook of lifeguards, no avail. They think i'll be sucked out into the water. I promised not to go into the water, but they said no. Keep in mind, my brother and I are not bad kids. My friends are all straight-A good kids. I don't date, kiss boys. I don't lie. I get straight A's. I do community service. I study Chinese and Vietnamese on their whim and do homework diligently during school. Funny how things work, huh?
So. any arguments?
I'm 15, almost 16. My brother is 16, to turn 17.
My brother tried already.
I don't argue with my parents often. I generally take the side of 'neutral and unargumentative teen.' It's not like I was yelling. I was asking.
And this isn't about respect. I'm Asian! Not respecting your parents generally leads to being hit with a stick, belt, or any other nearby and painful object. I don't cross that line! Anyway, this is a lost cause. Consider the question closed.
