I simply dont understand the war. at first i was very sick of hearing people talk smack about bush, because if we HADNT hunted down sadaam america would be pissed and say bush wasnt doing anything. but he did, and people are pissed about that too. that part i understand. i just dont really get WHAT soldiers are doing over there. who are we shooting, who are we hunting down now? i read TIME every week and when i read the articles i have no idea why soldiers are stationed wherever they may be or why. can someome just explain a few points in the war and strategy to me?

You see the big problem is Guerilla Warfare is probably one of the hardest fighting techniques for both sides. The Attackers have to rely on covert and stealth ops, while the soldiers have to embrace themselves for the attacks. Whoever doesn't prepare the extra point, the other force wins over them.

The soldiers right now are trying to eliminate most militant resistance in Iraq so they can finally set up a government for the Iraqi people, and right now its very tough because there are so many of them and like I said, figthing them is ridiculously hard. I mean, look at Vietnam for more reference.

Basically we don't want what happened to Africa way back then, which when we left, alongside the british, dutch, and all those other people that owned land, the tribes went back to killing each other because of mistakes or things we provoked in Africa

The problem is, progress is little if not none, to fixing Iraq

Son, this war was begun under false pretences (Weapons of Mass Destruction). The reason was changed after the war began (and the weapons turned out not to exist) to 'freeing Iraq from Saddam Hussein'. Unfortunately, you are growing up at a time when the government in power lies without any conscience. The good news is that this group of creeps will be gone in about 1.5 years. The bad news is that many people have lost their lives over a lie and will continue to do so. Good for you that you want to know what's going on. Unfortunate for you that there is no adult in your life to help you.
