property management question?
My husband and I bought a home, he is in the military and we will be moving, possibly overseas. We know the market is crazy right now and know the chances of it selling for what we need without losing money is slim to none. (the home is one of 12 that were built on the street that are exactly alike, only ours has a carport and sits on two extra lots) The other homes are selling for about 67.00 a square foot and we are needing ours to sell for about 84.00. (we paid more than the other people though, ours sold for 72,000 the others for 69,000) Anyway we are thinking about just letting our realtor be our property manger if come November it hasn't sold..how does that work? Will we still be responsible for repairs? Because if not i can't figure out why they get 10% of the rent plus a huge fee to start it up. Someone tell me about it.. Military members shouldn't buy homes due to the sudden out of the blue moves..GAH!
We didn't buy it for a investment thing..we bought it because base housing was full and renting was way more a month then buying..anyway, my husband's job is only available at 4 bases and most of the guys have been here for years, those who leave put in to move..we didn't.My husband is deciding to change careers for what i don't know.. I cannot not go with him..for one I don't have a job and we will not be able to afford to live with paying for mortgage and rent, and without BAH we defintely won't be, (base pay sucks) We also have two children who need their father just as much as they need me.
