cant afford 100 dollars? 2 cats been living on my backyard
both of them fears human, one of them get friendly with me (I named him mao) I feed mao with my hand and pet him, but the other one still wont let me touch him. anywayz, after weeks of them living in my used car, I made a house for them from a used microwave with a pillow, sweaters and protect it from rain. 2 of them has been living in there now. My mom wont let me bring them inside the house, I was thinking to put them in an animal shelter but me and mao is getting close now.. so I am hoping if any1 has an answer on how t o build a outdoor cat house that maybe can stand winter. so far im thinking of elevaing the current house so that the snow wont cover it, make a stair and wrapped the microwaves with lots of insulator material. I have 70 dollars to spare if there is a good buy for it. thx. if not i might have to give them away to the animal shelter. |

Will you have money to care for them for the rest of their lives? Are they males or female? Females will begat more cats and you will have a cat farm in less than a year. The shelter is probably the best answer. But also I knew a fella who made a cat kennel with a raised floor and electric lights for heat before our town had a shelter. The cats came in every night for warmth and chow time. Good luck to you.

I would push you to put them in a shelter, but I know you're dead-set on keeping them in your yard, so here goes:
Often cats, especially groups of them, are able to keep warm and happy outdoors without much help. A small dog house (plastic works fine) is a great thing to use, and you can put blankets or towels in the bottom. Face the door towards a wall of the house, and about 1 foot away from it. You can put a styrofoam square, some wood, or something under the dog house so it isn't directly on the ground. Being close to the house will help keep snow out and away from the entrance. A plastic or wooden box would work just fine the same way if you're strapped for cash. |

I would try calling the animal shelter and ask them what they can recommend u buy or give suggestions on what to make. The last thing they want is more animals sent there that will be put to sleep, so they will probably give you LOTS of ideas! Good luck.
