I was wondering how many people here supplemented their home purchase by renting space to a border?

Over about twenty years, we've had four different people renting a room at various times, which helped us out financially.

My parents have big house in the province. The location is a plus factor because it's a walking distance to the town's school. There are 4 rooms for rent, 3 beds in each room. Most of their borders are students. They paid monthly rent so it really helps to support financial needs.

No. I have never tried that, but I know people that have and it's a great concept. Many retirees use their home as bed and breakfasts, which is fun.

yes, it is quite common. especially near schools. try to find a kid that actually studies though. haha
