Default Why is there a "paid collection" on my credit report?!?

I have student loans that went into collections (I know, bad). I've just recently gotten a job, and am ready to start re-paying. I look on my credit report and underneath the student loans it says "paid collection." In the blanks, for amount owed it says $0.00. How is this possible? I have not made a single payment.

There is a very small possibility that someone may have paid it for me. BUT, if they did this - it was in complete secret from me, as I refused their offer to help many times. I don't even know if it's possible for someone to just up and pay that, without my consent.

So, anyone have any ideas as to why "paid collection" would appear on my credit when I haven't even started to make the payments?!

Thanks in advance.

Sometimes it will say Charged off, meaning they tought you will nevr pay anyways. Or it can be sold to another collection agency and will appear under another name.

I sugest that if you are going to pay, do not do it in small payments, pay it when you have the whole amount, because if you do it little by little, they will report negative every month since it is a derogaroty tradeline.

Best wishes

some one else has paid the account and even if they don't have your consent anyone can pay a bill for someone else it is only when they want info about the account that it would need your consent
