Will you have money to care for them for the rest of their lives? Are they males or female? Females will begat more cats and you will have a cat farm in less than a year. The shelter is probably the best answer. But also I knew a fella who made a cat kennel with a raised floor and electric lights for heat before our town had a shelter. The cats came in every night for warmth and chow time. Good luck to you.
