Campgaw Mountain was designed and constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers. Operational since 1961, Campgaw is only 18 miles from New York City. Campgaw Mountain is owned by the county of Bergen. Campgaw Mountain is a beginner/intermediate ski area catering to Northern New Jersey, Southern New York state and the New York City area. Campgaw is the Ramapo Indian word for "Goose."
