There are many state parks and hiking trails that provide vistors access to great tidepooling areas during low tide, where visitors can scramble out among the rocks and see starfish, sea urchins, crabs, sea anemones and other ocean creatures. Kite flying is a popular activity. Harris Beach State Park and the port area are favorite places to try your kite, and there is an annual Kite Festival, which attracts professional as well as amateur flyers.
